The client:

The city of Santander attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year; among other things its City Council takes care of the administration of the visits to the main sites of tourist interest which make up the city’s Cultural Circuit. Since 2010 Santander City Council has successfully followed a strategic plan to be a point of reference for smart cities in Spain and the world.

The challenge:

Telefónica is the most important supplier of Santander Smart City, one of the key projects in Spain which provides among other things connectivity and added value services to Smart City projects. Telefónica identified the need for improving the administration of the tourist resources and activities of the city and the connection between them and the citizen, enhancing his/her experience as a user when making an appointment for visiting them and paying the entrance fee. Telefónica put its faith in Kairos365SCH for providing Santander City Council with a platform for the administration of visits and the sale of tickets as a comprehensive solution to all its operating needs that can be independently managed.

Strategy and solution:

Kairos365SCH provides Santander City Council with a personalised platform for its operating needs and for the administration of visits and the sale of tickets with the following main characteristics:

  • Managing all bookings related to the tourist resources and activities of the Cultural Circuit of the city.
  • Being a platform fully managed by the City Council. In contrast to other private platforms, Kairos365SCH does not charge commissions for the sale of the tickets, which means that all the income from the same goes to municipal funds.
